WHO WE ARE
CAPSAC is the California chapter of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC), a non-profit, leading national organization founded in 1986, which supports professionals engaged in all aspects of service to maltreated children and their families.
WHAT WE DO
CAPSAC aims to:
Improve standards for the prevention, identification, intervention and treatment of abused & neglected children, their families, adults abused as children, and offending individuals
Provide forums for the exchange of information among professionals working in the child abuse & neglect field
Promote research on the problem of child abuse & neglect
Encourage and promote multidisciplinary education and collaboration
Serve as a representational forum within which the needs and concerns of child abuse professionals can be articulated at the state and national level
Promote the effectiveness and wellbeing of child abuse professionals
HOW WE DO IT
As a multidisciplinary group of professionals, APSAC/CAPSAC achieves its purpose in a number of ways; most notably through expert training and educational activities, policy leadership and collaboration, and consultation that emphasize theoretically sound, evidence-based principles and practices.
